About Ozone

Ozone (O₃) is a unique form of oxygen, containing one extra atom compared to the oxygen (O₂) we breathe. This third atom makes the ozone molecule highly reactive and gives it strong oxidizing properties, though it also makes it inherently unstable. Due to this instability, ozone has a relatively short half-life under normal conditions, so it must be continuously generated and delivered for effective disinfection.
That’s where PRASINOS TECH INNOVATIONS steps in: OUR systems are specifically designed to produce and supply ozone in precise amounts, ensuring the necessary disinfection power for each application.
The creation of ozone follows a straightforward process. When electrical energy breaks an oxygen molecule (O₂) into individual oxygen atoms, these atoms then bond with other O₂ molecules to form ozone (O₃).
O₂ + Energy → 2O
O + O₂ → O₃
By harnessing this simple yet effective reaction, we enables reliable disinfection powered by ozone’s natural reactivity.

Working Principle

The unstable third oxygen atom in ozone can readily bond with both organic and inorganic molecules, transforming or breaking them down through rapid oxidation. This reaction is almost immediate; for instance, in a swimming pool, ozone can kill Cryptosporidium parvum on contact, whereas chlorine, at standard pool concentrations, would require hours to achieve the same effect. Similar to chlorine, ozone is consumed during oxidation and must be replenished for ongoing disinfection.
Ozone is capable of oxidizing a wide range of substances. In a pool, these might include viruses, bacteria, fungi, yeast, oils, organic chloramines, and metals like iron, copper, and manganese, as well as inorganic chloramines. On food surfaces or food itself, ozone can target harmful organisms such as Salmonella, Listeria, and E. coli. In hospital or long-term care laundry, it effectively neutralizes antibiotic-resistant bacteria like MRSA, which can linger on clothing and bedding.

The oxidative power of ozone continues relentlessly until the ozone itself is depleted, reduced as it oxidizes other substances. After the third oxygen atom has completed its work, it simply leaves behind an O₂ molecule—the same form of oxygen found in the air we breathe.

Benefints of Ozone Treatment

Ozone is a powerful natural disinfectant that effectively eliminates bacteria, viruses, and odors through oxidation. As it breaks down harmful microorganisms and odur-causing compounds, ozone leaves no chemical residues, reverting back to oxygen. This eco-friendly solution is widely used in air and water purification, making spaces cleaner and safer.

Ozone offers a chemical-free approach to disinfection, using only oxygen to generate powerful oxidizing agents that neutralize bacteria, viruses, and contaminants. Unlike traditional disinfectants, ozone leaves no harmful residues, breaking down naturally back into oxygen. This sustainable technology provides a safe, residue-free solution for sanitizing air, water, and surfaces.

Ozone effectively enhancesater quality by oxidizing and eliminating impurities like bacteria, viruses, and organic contaminants. Unlike chemical treatments, it leaves no residual byproducts, ensuring cleaner and safer water. Ozone’s natural disinfection process also improves clarity, odor, and taste, making it ideal for pools, drinking water, and industrial applications.

Ozone is 3,000 times faster than chlorine in oxidizing and neutralizing contaminants, making it an incredibly efficient disinfectant. It works instantly to destroy bacteria, viruses, and odors, offering rapid results compared to chlorine, which can take hours to achieve similar effects. Ozone’s speed makes it ideal for time-sensitive applications.

Ozone is an energy-efficient and eco-friendly solution for disinfection and purification. It requires minimal energy to generate and quickly decomposes back into oxygen, leaving no harmful residues. Unlike chemical treatments, ozone doesn’t produce pollutants or waste, making it a sustainable, effective alternative for air, water, and surface sanitation.

Frequently Asked Questions

* In high concentrations, ozone can be harmful to breathe and can irritate the respiratory system. For this reason, ozone generators should be used in unoccupied spaces or with proper ventilation. After treatment, it’s essential to allow the ozone to dissipate before reoccupying the area.

Ozone has a short half-life, typically lasting 30 minutes to a couple of hours under normal conditions. Once it oxidizes contaminants, it quickly reverts back to oxygen (O₂), leaving no harmful residues behind.

Yes, ozone can neutralize many types of odors by breaking down the odor-causing molecules. This includes smoke, pet odors, mold, and cooking smells. However, the treatment may need to be repeated if the odor source persists or if it’s deeply embedded.

Air purifiers generally filter particles from the air (e.g., dust, pollen) and may use HEPA or carbon filters. Ozone generators, on the other hand, release ozone to oxidize and eliminate odors, pathogens, and other organic compounds.

The duration depends on the space size and the severity of the contamination or odor. Small spaces may need only 15-30 minutes, while larger areas might require several hours.

Yes, ozone generators are commonly used for water treatment because ozone effectively kills bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens without leaving chemical residues. It is used in swimming pools, aquariums, and even in some drinking water systems.

Ozone has a distinctive smell, often described as similar to chlorine or the fresh scent after a thunderstorm. If you smell ozone when the machine is running, it’s likely functioning. Some models also have indicators or control panels to confirm ozone production.

Yes, most ozone generators require periodic maintenance, including cleaning the corona discharge plates, checking for any blockages, and replacing filters if applicable. Regular maintenance ensures the generator’s efficiency and longevity.

Ozone generators are suitable for use in unoccupied rooms or outside, basements, vehicles, hotel rooms, offices, and any areas needing odor removal or sterilization. They should not be used in confined spaces where people or pets are present without proper ventilation.
